Tuesday 4 February 2014

Feel really good about doing this, and finishing it! I learned a good deal about my painting style, and how to work faster..., but am happy to return now to more leisurely painting. Thank you to all who watched the process and commented and encouraged. These are for sale, being small they are reasonable ($150-$200 Can), and I can ship them matted but not framed.

Day 30 of 30 in 30!
Wow... we did it! I have never painted so much, so regularly and, funny thing, one gets better with regular practise! Now, a few days off, but, will keep painting more regularly, if not every day....thanks for all the lovely comments and encouragement.

Day 29 of 30 in 30
Yikes! Only one more to paint! Got ahead today when golf was cancelled...so, what will I do for my last, my 30th in 30 days? Don't know ......

Day 28 of 30 in 30
Wow... almost there!

Monday 27 January 2014

Day 27 of 30 in 30
Getting faster, being more sure of how deep a colour to use the first time... still like to build up layers though, it gives so much more depth to the subject. Want to do more work on the background of this one...

Day 26 of 30 in 30
I have always loved wisteria, and am challenged to paint it without too much details.

Day 25 of 30 in 30
I always want to do more to these... but if I do, I mess them up! so, my seascapes are woefully simple! ...so far...

Friday 24 January 2014

Day 24 of 30 in 30
Again, something different for me. Fun to try, but doing new subjects takes more time... perhaps I will finish with a series of flowers... or not!

Thursday 23 January 2014

Day 23 of 30 in 30
I do feel that I have progressed, learning so much from the necessity to keep going right now, instead of setting the struggle aside for an hour, or a day, week.... must work through the problem bits now and finish.. or at least reach a stage at which I can say OK.

Wednesday 22 January 2014

Day 22 of 30 in 30
I have not done glass before in watercolours... mmmmmm. Again, fun to try new things, which is why I am calling these paintings 'etudes', little studies.

Tuesday 21 January 2014

Day 21 of 30 in 30
A different watercolour style for me..... fun to try.

Day 20 of 30 in 30
I have always loved the Parrot Tulips, frilly and floppy, usually full of colours. So, I took photos years ago of them at the gardens at Saanich Municipal Hall.

Day 19 of 30 in 30

Day 17 0f 30 in 30
Back to my florals... a friend sent me her photo of this brave pansy, they look so delicate and survive in the snow and cold, always smiling.

Wednesday 15 January 2014

Day 15 of 30 in 30

We love apples, crunchy, sweet, and good for you!

Tuesday 14 January 2014

Day 13 of 30 in 30
This is 'Ice Wine'. Our grapes were clinging to the vine into late October, and we had a light frost, so these grapes were ready to use for ice wine. Sadly, we didn't!

Day 12 of 30 in 30
Every so often I venture into acrylics... so this pair of pears is done in acrylics. I do enjoy the layers and texture, even tho' I need practise to get the feeling I want with this medium.

Monday 13 January 2014

Day 11 of 30 in 30
Finally got back to painting... busy weekend, fun and interesting... so, now here is day 11 (thank you M for the lovely flowers!), and on to 12 and 13 to catch up!

Saturday 11 January 2014

Day 9 of 30 in 30
Change of pace! Fun to try something different, I call this one 'Memories'.

Wednesday 8 January 2014

Day 8 of 30 in 30
I needed to spend a little more time and do a bit of refining, so now, this one is done!

Tuesday 7 January 2014

Day 7 of 30 in 30
Oh My! I don't seem to be getting any quicker, around 3 1/2 hours... could spend much more time, but... determined not to take ALL DAY. Great fun , and totally enjoying this!

Monday 6 January 2014

Day 6 of 30 in 30
Did the background first on this one, just for something different. Mmmmm, might try it again sometime!

Sunday 5 January 2014

Day 5 of 30 in 30...
Our old Christmas Cactus had only one bloom this year, and this is it! They are such delicate yet strong flowers.

Saturday 4 January 2014

Day 4 of 30 in 30
I received a beautiful bouquet at New Years from my sister. This is one of three beautiful roses from that bouquet.

Friday 3 January 2014

Day 3 of 30  in 30.
This painting was more complicated than I had intended, realizing that the leaves were such an important part of the composition, and too many of them for a quick painting.
